Zhang Zhanjiang is an esteemed partner at BEIJING JINGTIAN & GONGCHENG, specializing in Intellectual Property Law, Dispute Resolution and Anti-Unfair Competition Law. Dr. Zhang has amassed 15 years of experience in intellectual property law. Before his current role as a partner at JINGTIAN & GONGCHENG, Dr. Zhang’s career had embraced a variety of significant positions, including serving as a research scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a patent examiner at the China National Intellectual Property Administration, and a lawyer and patent agent at prominent law firms such as King & Wood Mallesons and Haiwen & Partners. His technical acumen encompasses new materials, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors etc.
 
Dr. Zhang is renowned for his pragmatic approach to complex legal challenges, dedicating himself to patent invalidation and litigation, patent infringement litigation and administrative enforcement, patent due diligence and strategic patent management, patent examination and review, and intellectual property due diligence. During his tenure at the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Dr. Zhang handled over 500 invention patent applications and reviewed cases within the fields of new materials, chemical engineering, medical devices, general machinery, working with multiple well-known domestic and overseas companies. In his legal practice, Dr. Zhang has represented numerous well-known domestic and overseas companies in significant patent and trade secret cases, many of which have been recommended as typical cases by the judicial system and the China National Intellectual Property Administration. In addition, Dr. Zhang has directed extensive intellectual property due diligence projects, offering services such as FTO analysis, patent arrangement analysis, core patent stability analysis, product and patent correspondence analysis, service invention risk assessment, technical secret infringement risk assessment and special legal opinions on intellectual property in the IPO process. His clientele includes notable firms such as Hillhouse Capital Advisors, Ltd., China Life Healthcare Fund, New Horizon Capital, Hongtai Aplus, CDH Investments, TPG Capital, Enze Capital, and IDG Capital. 
 
Dr. ZHANG holds a Ph.D. in Science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also qualified as licensed attorney and patent agent in China. Besides his legal practice, he is also an accomplished scholar in the IP theory, contributing over 60 articles on intellectual property to esteemed journals and other platforms, specifically Chinese Invention & Patent, China IP Magazine, Electronic Intellectual Property, Patent Agency, China Law Insight and Frontier of Intellectual Property.
