Mr. Xiangman Shen graduated from Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law with a bachelor degree in law.
Mr. Shen joined Jingtian & Gongcheng as a partner in 2020. Prior to this, he worked as a lawyer for more than 10 years with a law firm in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, during which he participated a training program organized by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC for one year in Beijing, and later he studied under another training program in UK and HK for one year, where he was educated with English law. In 1999, Mr. Shen joined Wang Jing & Co. and had been a senior partner of the firm. In 2017, he joined Stephenson Harwood-Wei Tu (China) Association as a senior partner.
Mr. Shen’s practice covers a wide range of PRC law issues as maritime law(including ship sale and purchase, ship finance), international trade law, general corporate and commercial law and etc., but with a special focus on foreign related dispute resolution matters at different levels of PRC courts and at PRC arbitration commissions, cross border court proceedings and arbitration proceedings related to jurisdictions as HK, Singapore, London, South Africa, US and others. Mr. Shen is also experienced in foreign direct investment matters and cross boarder M&A cases. Having been a professional PRC licensed lawyer for more than 30 years, Mr. Shen has handled hundreds of civil, commercial and even criminal cases. His clients include a number of Fortune 500 international companies and Chinese domestic companies. Mr. Shen is recognized as one of the top 10 “Elite Business Lawyer” of Guangzhou City of Guangdong Province.
Mr. Shen is a frequent speaker on topics of PRC court litigations, recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the PRC, ship construction and ship finance, cross boarder insolvency and etc., at forums and seminars in different countries. From time to time, he is invited to give PRC law expert opinions to foreign courts and foreign arbitration tribunals.
Mr. Shen passed PRC bar examination in 1988 and then was admitted to the PRC bar
Mr. Shen is a native Chinese(Mandarin) speaker and he is fluent in English. Mr. Shen can also speak a few Chinese dialects including Cantonese.
