Mr. Dong is a partner at Jingtian & Gongcheng and is qualified to practice in China and New York State of the United States. Mr. Dong holds a Bachelor of Arts (English Language and Law) and a Master of Laws from China University of Political Science and Law, and a Master of Laws (LLM in American Law) from Boston University. Before joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Dong worked for CIETAC as Case Manager.
Mr. Dong is an arbitrator CIETAC and other arbitration institutions, mediator of CCPIT/CCOIC Mediation Center, master student supervisor of China University of Political Science and Law, council member and deputy secretary general of the Society of Business Law of China.
Mr. Dong specializes in dispute resolution. Since 2011, Chambers & Partners, and other renowned legal publishers have ranked Mr. Dong as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution in China for consecutive years. In 2016 and 2017, he was named as one of China’s Top 100 Lawyers by China Business Law Journal.
Mr. Dong has represented hundreds of civil, commercial and administrative disputes in courts and arbitration institutions at home and abroad. Major cases include the first case of QFII in China, the arbitration case between a Sino-foreign joint venture and the Hangzhou government, the ICC arbitration case of a state-owned enterprise, and 11 cases of financing and trading contracts of a state-owned enterprise. He also has considerable experience in assisting Chinese clients in handling U.S. lawsuits. He has served as a legal adviser to Chinese clients in such cases as China Gypsum Board case and Polycrystalline Silicon Long-term Supply Agreement lawsuit and the case of China plasterboard. He also served as an arbitrator in about 15 commercial arbitration cases.
Benchmark Litigation, a publication owned by Euromoney Group, was founded in 2008. It was initially focused on the U.S. market and has now developed to cover the global dispute settlement market.
The research of Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific 2019 lasted six months. Its research team and conducted extensive interviews with dispute resolution experts, litigation lawyers and their clients.
