Mr. Hu Ke is a partner in our dispute resolution group, specializing in litigation and arbitration (in commercial and IP-related matters), cyber-security and data protection.
In dispute resolution, Mr. Hu has represented domestic and international clients in 100+ court proceedings in China and arbitration proceedings under CIETAC, BAC, HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, SCC, CAS and UNCITRAL rules. His experience covers disputes in relation to general commercial contracts, corporate and JV matters, PE/VC investment, energy, carbon finance, entertainment and culture, technology licensing, IP protection, and recognition and enforcement of oversea arbitral awards and court judgments.
He also regularly advises clients on resolving legal and compliance issues and potential disputes arising out of daily operation.

Education and work experience
Mr. Hu is LL.M. 2013 of the University of California, Berkeley, and LL.B. 2006 of Peking University Law School. Prior to joining Jingtian & Gongcheng, he worked in another leading Chinese firm.

Mr. Hu Ke is qualified in China and in the state of New York.
His working languages are Chinese (native) and English (fluent).
Professional Activities
Mr. Hu is a panel arbitrator at CIETAC, the flagship arbitration institution in China, and at Saudi Commercial Arbitration Center. He has sat in more than 10 arbitration cases as arbitrator.
Mr. Hu is a member of the Arbitration and ADR Commission of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), China Society of Privation International Law (CSPIL), American Society of International Law (ASIL), International Bar Association (IBA) and International Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) (currently serving as vice chair of IPBA’s Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee).
Mr. Hu Ke is also a member of the ICCA/Tsinghua Joint Working Group on Chinese Arbitration Practice (as a co-rapporteur for Young ICCA), and a co-organizer of China Young Arbitration Group. He also holds memberships in Young ICCA, ICCA, HK45 and YSIAC, and was member of the inaugural YSIAC Leadership Committee, and of the steering committee of IBA Arb40 (2019-2020).

•Representing a Chinese state-owned financial leasing company in an aircraft lease dispute before CIETAC arising out of a lease of 3 aircrafts (280m RMB), setting precedents in CIETAC and Chinese judiciary re third party funding in commercial arbitration
•Representing a Chinese investor in an LCIA arbitration with its JV partner in a dispute out of an investment in the Democratic Republic of Congo (25m USD)
•Representing a BVI investment fund in an HKIAC arbitration with an investor in an investment management contract dispute (25m USD)
•Represented a Chinese private manufacturing company in an ICC arbitration seated in Switzerland, defeating 96.5% of the claims of 23m Euros raised by its European counterparty (23m Euro)
•Represented a Chinese SOE in an UNCITRAL arbitration seated in Singapore in a petroleum contract dispute and secured landslide victory, defeating all the claims of 550m USD and winning most of counterclaims (36m USD)
•Represented a Chinese APP operator in a CAS arbitration arising out of a licensing agreement (case settled)
•Represented a Chinese SOE in defending one of the first multi-contract arbitrations under the 2016 SIAC Rules (case withdrawn by the Claimant before the Statement of Claims)
•Representing an SOE in a CIETAC arbitration against a JV partner in connection with a failed investment
