On January 22, 2015, Wanda Cinemas Co., Ltd. (“Wanda Cinemas”, 002739.SZ) completed its A-share IPO and was listed on SME of SZSE, and became the first cinema company on China’s capital market. Jingtian & Gongcheng is the legal counsel of the issuer.
Wanda Cinemas issues 60 million A-shares, accounting for 10.7143% of the total number of shares after issuance. At a price of 21.35 yuan/share, it raises total proceeds of 1.281 billion yuan. Since its pre-disclosure, Wanda Cinemas has become one of the most-watched new share on the capital market. It hits the limit-up price of 30.74 yuan on its debut, with an increase of 43.98%. The offline placing freezes capital totaled 87.097 billion, online subscription freezes capital totaled 133.719 billion yuan, and the total capital frozen is 220.817 billion yuan.
Wanda Cinemas is China’s largest cinema company, mainly involved in the investment and construction of cinemas, distribution of films, projection of movies and derivative businesses. By June 30, 2014, it owns 150 cinemas in over 80 cities in China, with 1,315 screens, of which 94 are IMAX screens. Since 2009, Wanda Cinemas has been no. 1 in the country in terms of box office, market share and viewers for five years in a roll.
