On May 16, 2017, the 65th Anniversary of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was held at Changping campus in Beijing. Headed by Zhao Yang, chairman of its Management Committee, Jingtian & Gongcheng delegation participated in the event to extend its congratulation and signed a joint agreement for the development of legal talents. Jingtian & Gongcheng hopes that the signing of this agreement with CUPL will help the university to build a world-class law discipline.
At the very start of the ceremony, a video showing General Secretary Xi Jinping visiting CUPL on May 3 was shown as a review of his very important talk. Next, the Party Secretary of CUPL Shi Yajun delivered an opening speech, followed by letters of support and speeches from Jiang Wei, Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court, Xu Xianming, Deputy Procurator-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, Wang Shuangquan, Vice Minister of Justice and Director of Political Department. Then Wang Junfeng, Chairman of All China Lawyers Association gave a talk. Professor Huang Jin, President of CUPL signed agreements with 10 famous law firms in China, including Jingtian & Gongcheng.
According to the agreement, Jingtian & Gongcheng will work with CUPL in the following 10 areas:
1. to modify and complete development plans for legal talents;
2. to develop legal practice courses at undergraduate and graduate levels;
3. to serve as part-time professors and mentors;
4. to guide legal education;
5. to hold seminars on legal practice and legal start-ups;
6. to jointly set up off-campus training and internship sites;
7. to jointly carry out research on practical legal professionals;
8. to establish recommendation and recruiting mechanism for graduates;
9. to jointly conduct follow-up studies on talent quality;
10. to jointly develop social welfare programs for legal training and education.
The ceremony was chaired by Professor Feng Shiyong, Vice President of CUPL, and joined by over 100 people consisting of trustees of the university, alumni, faculties and students. Partners Lang Yuanpeng, Xie Ruoting from Jingtian & Gongcheng participated in the event as Jingtian & Gongcheng delegation members.
